The Avontuur is one of the faster clippers in the Dutch charter fleet and was built in 1909. These ships were the last sailing vessels that were developed for cargo shipping. They have the best sailing plans and technology on board, which is why they are easier to operate than other sailing ship types and therefore needed fewer crew members. The entire ship is lightly decorated; lots of glass and light colours have been used. There are sitting areas on deck where you can sit comfortably and safely. Due to the low profile there is a fantastic view of the SAIL spectacle.
