The Tres Hombres is a professional sailing cargo ship. In addition to transporting cargo and passengers, the ship is used to train students for maritime shipping. The ship has a cargo hold with a load capacity of around 50 tons. The ship was originally built in the Second World War. The renovation into a sailing cargo ship took place from 2007 to 2009. Pepijn van Schaik of Manta Marine Design supervised the renovation project with regard to the modification of the construction and the stability calculations. The ship is built with a wooden skin on steel trusses. The ship has been in service since December 2009. The first trip was to the climate summit in Copenhagen. She then maintains a freight service between: Europe, the Atlantic Islands, the Caribbean and America. From the spacious deck there is a fantastic view to enjoy the SAIL spectacle!
