The Hoge Wier was built in 1899 as a sailing cargo ship. It owes its name to a sandbar, just below Ameland. After exciting adventures in both world wars and many renovations, the ship is currently used as a passenger ship with a classic and cosy atmosphere on both upper and lower deck.
